The woodlands and coastlines of Scotland provide a wealth of materials to create my individual work. I live in The Great Trossachs Forest surrounded by lochs and glens full of moss, lichen, heather and wonderful seeds and leaves from the trees left on the forest floor.
One of my favourite spots for beachcombing is The Isle of Arran off the west coast of Scotland. The beautiful curved shapes of glass and crockery washed up on the beach make perfect boat sails.
The wooden wildlife pieces are laser cut from beech wood, painted with watercolours, wired and beaded. The background paper is handmade by Jonathan Korejko who uses natural plants, flowers and recycled materials to create individal sheets. Each piece is finished off with a flower or shell.
I also individually hand paint with watercolours the backgrounds of many pictures.
My new supplier of the boxed picture frames provide a quality product that is handcrafted from wood sourced from British woodlands.
Truly Trossachs cows,Scottie dogs and sheep are wound with handed dyed sheep wool. Anne Artis, a spinner from Callander uses woad and lichen to produce wonderful rust blends. The wool is then individually blended using a hand carder (two 72 metal spiked hand paddles brushed together). The wool is sourced from British Native Sheep including the rare breeds of White Faced Woodland and Leicester Longwool. Other breeds that are used are Blue Faced Leicester, Hebridean, Shetland, Ryeland and Wendsleydale. Baby alpaca and plant materials are also used.
My name is Sarah Hatton and I have been making cards for many years and now I have turned my creative skills into a business and created new ranges and products as well as working with local suppliers. I love creating pictures from nature.
I hope you enjoy browsing my site.
Due to the uniqueness of each composition, the products may vary in background paper, colour or natural materials than is seen in the photographs. If you require a particular combination please mention this in the PayPal notes at checkout or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
